The "Counter Offer" Dilemma. To stay or to go? That is the question...

You’ve made the decision to better yourself, your career and your situation but now, your current employer is “singing your praises”, matching the new salary and promising you the moon, sun and stars above! The internal conflict begins…

The talent pool is low, keep that in mind but, where were these accolades, career growth and promotion before you gave notice? The employer knows it’s easier for them to keep you right where you are however, the problem is that other than the increase to your salary, nothing else will change. Eight out of 10 employees who accept a counter offer are back on the job market within six months, why? Because of the very reasons you wanted to leave in first place. Nothing changes, except your current employer didn’t have to find someone to replace you, train and start all over. But you, you lost out on a great job that could have been the spring board to new opportunities, personal and financial growth - more money. It may be easier to stay and less disruptive to your personal life but, since when is anything worth having easy to obtain?

We as society, appear to have fallen into a “complacency trap”. It has been a difficult three years, trust me, the insurance industry has not become complacent, they are still striving to find excellent talent to join their organizations, it has been and will continue to be business as usual…YOU, just have to come back to the “world of the living”, not just existing!

A new job and career opportunity is just what you need to “shake things up!” and bring excitement back into your life…the new salary is just icing on the cake!
